First Wedding Anniversary

We started our anniversary weekend with a day hike at Patuna Chasm (see here for my blog post about it).
which meant we were due for a drink and some good food.

After a quick change and freshen up we drove back to Martinborough Memorial Square and took our "official" anniversary photo. I am hoping to make this a tradition and take a photo every anniversary with our previous anniversary photo in the frame.

Micro Wine Bar

When booking our dinner reservations, we were recommend to go to Micro Wine Bar for a pre-dinner drink. It was a really lovely spot, on a fabulously sunny afternoon. Since moving to Wellington, we have both developed a liking for craft wines and beers and so thoroughly enjoyed what this little brewery had to offer.

The Statue of Liberty on the bottle was pulling an "Erin" face, so I had to replicate it.

Tirohana Estate

Now, for our well deserved dinner. We arrived at Tirohana Estate to a personal introduction of all the staff who greeted us at the entry. We were each given a glass of delicious Sauvignon Squeeze Cocktail and Amuse Bouche nibbles.

We ordered a bottle of their house Pinot Noir, which was delicious and VERY drinkable.

Cheers!!

The starters came quickly and so did the mains.

Baked cheese cake and banana chimichangas for dessert. YUM!

Everything was very timely and the service was impeccable. Probably the best restaurant experience I have had in a long time. They had lots of options for dietary requirements but I chose to be a bit naughty and had ice cream anyway...

They were even happy to take a few quick snaps of us in the vineyard (which is right next to the restaurant) Look at all those grapes!!

We both had a marvellous day which capped off a great first year of marriage. The first of many to come.
